Paul Pelosi won’t be flashing his policedonor card at any future arrests.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, who earlier this week pleaded guilty to driving under the influence, showed a card to California Highway Patrol officers during the arrest that showed he was a life member of a charity that benefits the patrol.

That’s a no-no, the CHP 11-99 Foundation said in a statement Thursday.

“The mere presentation of his 11-99 Foundation identification credentials to law enforcement made it appear that he was presenting them for preferential treatment,” the Foundation stated.

“Whether that was the case or not, [this] violates the terms and conditions he agreed to on his membership application,” the charity said in its statement.

The Foundation said that it had, per the “standard process,” asked Mr. Pelosi to “return all membership items he was issued upon joining the 11-99 Foundation. Once we receive all membership items back, he will be refunded what he has donated.”

The CHP appears to have done it's job. It's the DA that is compromised.

Nothing illegal about Pelosi’s attorney sending a PI to get records.

Although the attorneys did seem to be on fire to start working on it, which isn't cheap. Good thing Paul is such a wiz at investing!

What We Know about David DePape, the Man Accused of Attacking Paul Pelosi

The man accused of breaking into Nancy Pelosi’s home early Friday and attacking her husband with a hammer appears to have a history of affiliations with nudists and conspiracy theorists, and sometimes strange beliefs that fall all over the cultural and political map.

Online records about David Wayne DePape are sparse, but he has appeared in a few San Francisco-area news stories over the years, and he appears to have sporadically updated a blog where he wrote about religion, conspiracies, aliens, and censorship.

DePape, 42, was named in a 2008 Oakland Tribune story, when he and a woman named Gypsy Taub – a former stripper, nudist activist, and a 9/11 conspiracy backer originally from Russia – attended a community Thanksgiving meal with “their three small children.” DePape and Taub told a reporter it was their first time at the event, and they spent their time there “eating, dancing, socializing and showing good cheer to strangers,” the paper reported.

“We like to meet our neighbors,” Taub said. “I want my children to learn that everyone is a human being and a friend. I also want my kids to learn about sharing. In Russia, where I’m from, people share more, and I want my kids to grow up knowing sharing.”

It is not clear if DePape and Taub were ever actually a couple. In 2013, SFGate.com published a story about Taub’s plan to get married in the nude during a ceremony on the steps of San Francisco’s City Hall. But not to DePape. Rather, she was marrying a man named Jaymz Smith, who was “half her age, minus two,” according to the outlet. She said she was attracted to Smith because he had the spirit of “her long-dead lover Sergey, reincarnated.”

But DePape appears to have been included in the nuptials. A man who appears to be DePape – spelled in the story as dePappe – was described as “a hemp jewelry maker and father figure who will double as best man.” The story states that Taub, Smith, DePape, and Taub’s three kids, all lived together in a “an upstairs Berkeley Victorian flat that is perpetually freezing.”

It does not appear that DePape is the biological father of Taub’s children, who all have the surname “Gonzalez.” Neither Taub nor her oldest two children appear to have posted about DePape or his arrest on their Facebook pages Friday. Attempts to reach them for comment were unsuccessful.

Taub declined to go into detail about her relationship history or her children’s lineage with a SFGate reporter in 2013.

“If you want to enumerate all of the relationships I’ve had, it might take up a lot of space in the newspaper,” she says, laughing. “I’ve had a very exciting life with a lot of passion and a lot of drama. Let’s put it that way.”

DePape appears to have sporadically published to a blog, godisloving.wordpress.com, where he wrote about God’s love, and railed against censorship, communists, and the “elites/ruling class.” The blog is titled “Welcome to Big Brothers Censorship Hell.”

“The founding father built in protection against censorship coming from the goverment [sic] because they never imagined a day when Tech giants and private industry would be so powerful they could single handedly silence the people,” the blog states.

The blog appears to have been updated only during two periods, in August 2022 and in June 2007. The 2007 posts are mostly about God: “God accepts you, EVEN when you don’t accept yourself. God accepts you, EVEN when NOBODY else accepts you. And god accepts others. God accepts others EVEN when YOU don’t accept them.”

The 2022 posts – mostly memes and videos protesting government censorship – are more political in nature, though not specifically partisan. One meme read, “Exposing communist collusion to push a pro communist propaganda narrative is against Big Brothers guidelines. You need to sit down and shut up and swallow our [expletive] communist opinions. Those who do not comply will be censored off the internet and have their livelyhoods [sic] destroyed.”

He posted headlines, including “Communist voodoo science,” “Aliens,” “Feminists get owned,” and “The woke are Racists with a guilty conscience,” though most of the posts had no text when they were reviewed by a National Review reporter. The blog appears to have since been suspended.

One headline simply read “Q.” The San Francisco Chronicle wrote the headlines “invoke conservative beliefs or conspiracy theories promoted in far-right circles,” but the paper also reported that, “Voting records show DePape listed himself as a member of the Green Party years ago.”

CNN reported that DePape’s Facebook page, which has since been suspended, included links to videos by MY Pillow CEO Mike Lindell alleging that the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump, and videos with titles like “Democrat FARCE Commission to Investigate January 6th Capitol Riot COLLAPSES.” He also made posts claiming that Covid-19 vaccines were deadly, and images that CNN deemed “transphobic.”

His stepfather told CNN that DePape grew up in British Columbia, but left Canada for California 20 years ago to pursue a relationship. Acquaintances described DePape as “very odd,” and said he had been exhibiting concerning behavior.

According to San Francisco police, DePape entered the Pelosi residence through a sliding glass door and screamed, “Where is Nancy?” Officers who arrived on-scene shortly after the break-in saw DePape and Paul Pelosi wrestling for a control of a hammer. DePape  ripped the hammer out of Pelosi’s hand and hit him over the head with it.

Officers then intervened, disarmed DePape, and arrested him. He is being booked into jail on charges of  attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, and other felonies.

Dispatch Audio, Police Official Reveal More Details About Attack on Paul Pelosi
By Zachary Stieber October 29, 2022 Updated: October 29, 2022biggersmaller Print

Paul Pelosi called 911 after the man who attacked him entered Pelosi’s San Francisco home, according to dispatch audio and a top police official.

Paul Pelosi, U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, was attacked with a hammer in the early morning hours of Oct. 28. Authorities have identified the suspect as David DePape, 42.

According to dispatchers, Paul Pelosi called 911 and “stated that there’s a male in the home and that he’s going to wait for his wife.”

Paul Pelosi “stated that he doesn’t know who the male is but he advised that his name is David and that he is a friend,” a dispatcher said. Paul Pelosi “sounded somewhat confused.”

Paul Pelosi, 82, was able to call 911, according to San Francisco Police Chief William Scott.

The dispatcher who fielded the call was named as Heather Grives. Scott said Grives “had to interpret what she was being told,” and based on “her experience and her intuition, she basically figured out that there was something more to this incident than what she was being told.”

That led to officers rushing to the home to perform what authorities described as a well-being check. They arrived at approximately 2:27 a.m.

Officers knocked on the front door of the Pelosi home and the door was opened “by someone inside,” Scott said. The officers then stood and watched as Paul Pelosi and the suspect grappled with a hammer. The officers commanded both men to drop the hammer. The suspect gained control of the hammer and “violently attacked” Paul Pelosi with it.

The officers then entered the home and tackled the suspect, disarming him.

Paul Pelosi was struck at least one time, police said.

Broke In

DePape broke into the home through a rear door, according to Scott. Aerial footage after the attack showed broken glass at a door at the rear of the home.

Paul Pelosi and DePape were both transported to a nearby hospital. Both were still in the hospital as of Friday evening. Paul Pelosi underwent surgeries “to repair a skull fracture and serious injuries to his right arm and hands” and is expected to fully recover, Nancy Pelosi’s office said.

Nancy Pelosi was in Washington at the time of the attack with her protective detail, according to the U.S. Capitol Police.

Based on the investigation so far, authorities believe the attack was not random.

“We do know that this was intentional,” Scott said.

The motive for the attack has not been pinpointed.

Reports suggest the suspect was looking for Nancy Pelosi, but authorities have not confirmed that report.

Daughter Speaks Out

A website that Inti Gonzalez, DePape’s daughter, said that DePape was responsible for included posts describing colleges as cults, criticizing the government and the war in Ukraine, and citing Bible verses.

Gonzalez wrote on Facebook that the attack on Paul Pelosi “came as a shock to me, though not much considering the kind of extreme abuse [DePape] had inflicted on me and my brothers.”

DePape could not be reached and it’s not clear whether he has retained a lawyer. Gypsy Taub, Gonzalez’s mother, did not respond to a request for comment.

FBI agents visited a home linked to DePape that is known as a “hippie collective” by neighbors. Signs on the home indicate support for Black Lives Matter and a local group, Berkeley Stands United Against Hate.

Authorities have drawn up multiple warrants and will seek more warrants as the investigation advances, Scott said.

Interim San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said her office is working with federal and local law enforcement and will charge DePape with multiple felony charges on Monday, with an arraignment slated for the following day. Authorities have said attempted homicide will be one of the charges.

President Joe Biden told a Democrat party reception in Pennsylvania Friday that Nancy Pelosi told him that her husband “seems to be coming along well” and was “in good spirits.”

Biden and a slew of officials, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Senate Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), condemned the attack and said they hope Paul Pelosi recovers quickly.

It was early Friday morning when someone broke through the rear door of a large hillside home in San Francisco’s exclusive Pacific Heights neighborhood.

The home belonged to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco) and her husband, Paul, and police allege the man who broke in, David DePape, 42, was on a mission.

Nancy Pelosi was in Washington, D.C., with her protective detail. But Paul Pelosi was home.

New details are emerging of what happened next, an attack that left Paul Pelosi seriously injured in what police say was an intentional act and left many stunned at yet another display of political violence.

David Depape is shown in Berkeley, Calif.,on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013.

Accused Pelosi attacker David DePape spread QAnon, other far-right, bigoted conspiracies
Oct. 28, 2022

According to police, DePape allegedly entered the house and at some point confronted Paul Pelosi.

Pelosi told the intruder that he had to use the bathroom, then made a surreptitious 911 call on his cellphone and left the line open, sources familiar with the attack told The Times. Dispatcher Heather Grimes could hear Pelosi talking to his attacker and alerted officers to the scene.

In a communication between a dispatcher and a police car, the dispatcher says “there’s a male in the home and that he’s going to wait for his wife. The dispatcher said the man on the line “doesn’t know who the male is, but he advise that his name is David and then [said] he is a friend.” The caller, she added, “sounded somewhat confused.”

A law enforcement source in San Francisco said officials believe Pelosi was intentionally giving coded information because the intruder knew Pelosi was on the phone and wanted to signal to the dispatcher that something was wrong.

At a press conference Friday, San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott praised Grimes’ quick thinking.

“She had to interpret what she was being told,” he said at the news conference. “And based on her experience and intuition, she basically figured out that there was something more to this incident than what she was being told. Her actions, in my opinion, resulted in both a higher-priority dispatch and a faster police response.”

It took police about two minutes to get to the house.

When officers arrived and knocked on the front door, Scott said, someone inside (WHO?!?) opened the door. The officers saw Paul Pelosi and DePape, “each with one hand on a single hammer,” he said.

After officers ordered both men to drop the hammer, DePape “immediately” pulled the tool from Pelosi and “violently attacked him with the hammer,” Scott said.

Police tackled the assailant, grabbed the hammer and took him into custody before calling for backup and beginning first aid.

A source who was briefed on the attack said the assailant confronted Paul Pelosi and shouted, “Where is Nancy? Where is Nancy?” before the assault occurred.

DePape was booked Friday afternoon on suspicion of attempted murder, first-degree burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, threatening a family member of a public official, elder abuse, battery with serious bodily injury, dissuading a witness and injuring a wireless device.

A Times review of his online accounts show David DePape had been drifting further into the world of far-right conspiracies, antisemitism and hate.

In a personal blog that DePape maintained, posts include such topics as “Manipulation of History,” “Holohoax” and “It’s OK to be white.” He mentioned 4chan, a favorite message board of the far right. He posted videos about conspiracies involving COVID-19 vaccines and the war in Ukraine being a ploy for Jewish people to buy land.

DePape’s screeds included posts about QAnon, an unfounded theory that former President Trump is at war with a cabal of Satan-worshipping elites who run a child sex ring and control the world. In an Aug. 23 entry titled “Q,” DePape wrote: “Either Q is Trump himself or Q is the deepstate moles within Trumps inner circle.”

Paul Pelosi, 82, is recovering from surgery at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital “to repair a skull fracture and serious injuries to his right arm and hands,” said Drew Hammill, a spokesperson for Nancy Pelosi’s office. He is expected to recover fully.

Authorities praise him for his quick thinking when the intruder entered.

“It is really thanks to Mr. Pelosi having the ability to be able to make that call and truly the attention and instincts of that dispatcher to realize that something was wrong and to make the police call a priority,” San Francisco Dist. Atty. Brooke Jenkins told CNN.

We just can't have news without a narrative.  The connection between Q'Anon, Black Lives Matter, gay pride flag and pedophilia is beyond me, though I could see the attacker might have an interest in Defund the Police.

He came only for Nancy, allegedly, but struck Paul with the hammer in front of the police.

It's political but I thought we were told Paul was not political.  All these bills she passed that favor his businessshe passed had nothing to do with him.

It's always conservatives attacking liberals in political violence,

except for the shooting of Steve Scalise and all the Republican leadership,

except for the attack on Rand Paul,

except for the summer of 2020,

except for the attempted killing of Brett Kavanagh...

It must be hard living in their bubble when none of the facts fit the story.

Some tweets go bad quickly.

Here's a case in point: "It's very possible," tweeted blogger Glenn Greenwald on Sunday morning, "that the instantly formed media narrative — Paul Pelosi's attacker was a MAGA fanatic who broke in to murder Nancy — will be proven true. But right now there are so many glaring doubts and holes in that story that it just takes common sense to question this."

Clearly, the first half of Greenwald's tweet didn't age well. At this point, there is zero chance that homeless nudist pothead anti-Semite Berkeleyite David DePape is cut from the same cloth as the Capitol rioters who still dominate the Democrats' dreams. As DePape's former life partner and the mother of his children says: "He is mentally ill. He has been mentally ill for a long time."

Still, the spectacular leaps that are necessary to link Paul Pelosi's attacker to the Right, or even to "toxic right-wing rhetoric," haven't deterred our shameless, gutter-dwelling mainstream media.

"Where is Nancy? Where is Nancy?"

That's allegedly what the underwear-clad David DePape yelled to the underwear-clad Paul Pelosi after he allegedly broke into the Pelosis' home. And that inflammatory question was immediately picked up in the headlines and subheads of mainstream media organs across the nation.

Gosh, thought all the "journalists," isn't that exactly what those J6 rioters were chanting when they stormed the Capitol?

Indeed, as independent journalist and San Fransicko author Michael Shellenberger writes:

Leading politicians yesterday blamed the political Right for the brutal attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband Paul. "This is despicable," said President Biden. He noted that the alleged attacker, David DePape, 42, shouted the same line, "Where's Nancy?" as the supporters of Donald Trump, who stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. "And what makes us think that one party can talk about stolen elections?" said Biden. "COVID being a hoax? It's all a bunch of lies."

California political leaders agreed. "This heinous assault is yet another example of the dangerous consequences of the divisive and hateful rhetoric that is putting lives at risk and undermining our very democracy and Democratic institutions," said California Governor Gavin Newsom. "This attack," said San Francisco's state Senator, Scott Weiner, "is terrifying and the direct result of toxic right-wing rhetoric."

Journalists, en masse, agreed with their assessment. DePape "appears to have made racist and often rambling posts online," noted AP, in a report this morning that encapsulated the media narrative, "including some that questioned the results of the 2020 election, defended former President Donald Trump and echoed QAnon conspiracy theories."

Oh, and zip ties. Don't forget the zip ties. As the Associated Press headline reads, "Pelosi attacker carried zip ties, in Jan. 6 echo."

Ah, that Jan. 6 echo. "The man accused of attacking House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband carried zip ties with him when he broke into the couple's San Francisco home, according to a person briefed on the investigation, in what is the latest parallel to the Capitol riot of Jan. 6, 2021.

So: Because at least one of the J6 rioters had zip ties, and since zip ties were found at the scene of the Pelosi attack, David DePape must be MAGA. Ignore the lifetime of leftism, the homelessness, the drug addiction, the mental illness, the fact that he lived in Berkeley, which went 93% to 4% for Biden over Trump and which recorded the lowest percentage of Trump votes for any city in America with a population above 100,000. Pay no attention to the rampant crime and murder in Pelosi's district, or that of any number of other Democrat-run urban centers in America. Ignore all those things and any other "right-wing misinformation" decried by the Leftmedia; focus on the zip ties and make the connection between David DePape and Donald Trump.

Normally, we'd expect the words of a sitting president to help lower the temperature during a time like this. But these aren't normal times, and Joe Biden isn't a normal president. "It's reported that the same chant used by this guy they have in custody was used on January 6th in the attacks on the U.S. Capitol," said a desperate Biden on Friday, shortly after the mainstream media had broadcast the highly dubious "Where's Nancy?" story around the world.

But as the second half of Greenwald's tweet noted, there are plenty of unanswered questions here — and we can be certain that the really inconvenient ones won't be answered before Election Day. Blogger Steve Krakauer puts forth a few of them:

Why [weren't] there signs of forced entry at Pelosi home?
Who was 3rd person who opened door for the police?
Why was Pelosi holding hammer, and attack only happened after police arrived
Where is bodycam / security footage?
Why isn't the press asking these questions?
The fourth question, it seems to us, is the best one: What exactly did the cops see when they were let into the home, and where's the security footage that shows DePape forcing his way in?

Inquiring minds want to know why there was such an appalling lapse of security at the downtown San Francisco home of the speaker of the House, the person who is second in line to the presidency.

Inquiring minds also want to know how the mainstream media can dare report that a psychotic nudist Berkeleyite homeless addict and lifelong leftist is a MAGA Republican.

We'll wait.

Great question, and he missed anti-Semite in that.

Big tent, all welcome, except maybe this guy.  What a screwed up nut.  And we don't even know what happened yet.

NRO: Who failed Paul?
« Reply #22 on: November 03, 2022, 04:20:43 PM »
Who Failed Paul Pelosi?

On the menu today: Last night, President Biden offered this closing message: In order to preserve your right to vote for the candidate of your choice, you have no other option but to vote for the candidate of his choice. Biden’s speech began by focusing on the recent break-in and assault upon Paul Pelosi, the husband of House speaker Nancy Pelosi, and contended that the attack by a disturbed man was an extension of the events of January 6. That interpretation of the crime, however, conveniently ignores the multiple ways that government agencies who have the responsibility to prevent, deter, or quickly intervene in crimes such as this failed in their duties. Once again, agents of the state fail at their jobs, and all of this is somehow your fault.

A Failure in the System

The man who attacked Paul Pelosi overstayed his visa and had resided illegally in the U.S. for many years, perhaps by as much as two decades. In the indictment of the intruder, the FBI declared that it had searched where the intruder had been living for two years, the garage of a residence on Shasta Street in Richmond, Calif., and found evidence that he had “lived in the garage, including DMV paperwork, IRS letters, and Paypal credit cards.”

In other words, he was on the radar of the Internal Revenue Service, but not that of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. You see, Richmond, Calif., is not merely a “sanctuary city” that bars local police from reporting the immigration status of individuals and ignores requests by ICE to detain undocumented immigrants whom local agents apprehend for misdemeanor crimes or investigations. Back in 2018, the city council went even further, expanding its sanctuary protections by blocking contracts with companies that provide data or “extreme vetting services” to federal immigration authorities — despite objections from the city’s mayor and city police.

The man* who attacked Paul Pelosi was severely mentally unwell and exhibited a malevolent, sadistic desire to hurt people.

His ex-girlfriend — who is currently serving a prison sentence after being convicted on 20 counts, including felony charges of stalking, dissuading a witness, and attempted child abduction — told the San Francisco ABC affiliate that, “He is mentally ill. He has been mentally ill for a long time.” She described him as having disappeared for a year and said that “he came back in very bad shape. He thought he was Jesus. He was constantly paranoid, thinking people were after him. And it took a good year or two to get back to, you know, being halfway normal.” A neighbor told the Wall Street Journal, “The conversations that come out of that house late, late at night are kind off the wall crazy, like religion that leaves the aliens.”

A week before the incident, the intruder wrote on his blog that “an invisible fairy attacked an acquaintance and sometimes appeared to him in the form of a bird.”

According to the indictment, the intruder told Paul Pelosi that if the speaker arrived and told “the truth,” he would let her go, but if she lied, he would “break her kneecaps.” He told police that Speaker Pelosi was the “leader of the pack” of lies told by the Democratic Party. The attacker “later explained that by breaking Nancy’s kneecaps, she would then have to be wheeled into Congress, which would show other Members of Congress there were consequences to actions.” After being arrested, the intruder “explained that he did not leave after Pelosi’s call to 9-1-1 because, much like the American founding fathers with the British, he was fighting against tyranny without the option of surrender.”

The San Francisco area and the state of California expend considerable resources designed to help those with severe mental-health problems. Last year’s state budget included about $1.4 billion for four major proposals intended to address various behavioral-health-related needs in the state. Back in June, California governor Gavin Newsom announced another “$518.5 million in grants to help provide services and housing options to those with severe mental illness or substance abuse problems, including for those who are living on the streets.”

But as far as we know, after several days of reporters digging into the intruder’s background, the man who attacked Paul Pelosi never entered any state-run, city-run, or private mental-health-treatment program. Apparently, all those programs missed this guy.

The man who attacked Paul Pelosi broke into a house that has U.S. Capitol Police cameras watching every entrance, but those images were not “actively monitored” on the night of the attack, because the speaker was in Washington at the time. Yesterday, the U.S. Capitol Police promised it would conduct an internal review after its officers failed to notice surveillance-camera images of an intruder breaking into the home.

There was nothing that you or I could have done to prevent that abominable attack on an innocent elderly man. Now, if there were better enforcement of immigration laws, the attacker might have been deported back to Canada years ago. If the city and state had quicker and more widespread intervention for those with severe mental-health issues, he might have been in treatment, on medication, or locked up for his own safety and that of others. If U.S. Capitol Police had been watching the surveillance monitors, local police might have been on-scene quicker. The assault on Paul Pelosi is the story of a dangerous, disturbed man and the government agencies that failed in their responsibility to protect the public from him.

another ex Republican speaker (like Newt ) lauds Nancy Pelosi - I am not surprised by him doing this (of course while bashing Trump - and stating he was not a never Trumper  :-D)
But Newt did surprise me.

Well
Her apparent  ability to whip up 100%  Dems to vote en bloc for and
including the crazy AOC Marxist/woke  wing policies,
I guess, is a skill set unto its own

If that is the case then McCarthy may do well to emulate her methods to keep the  Republicans on track to vote en bloc for conservative values.

Contrast Rino Ryan's take with
Van Drew , congressman from NJ who switched parties from D to R
take on Pelosi:

NBC News Reporter Not Seen on Air Since Paul Pelosi Attack Report Retracted
By Jack Phillips November 28, 2022 Updated: November 28, 2022biggersmaller Print

NBC News correspondent Miguel Almaguer has not appeared on the air since a Nov. 4 report on details surrounding the attack targeting Paul Pelosi last month was retracted without explanation.

Almaguer is usually featured on NBC’s “Today” and “Nightly News” programs. Reports earlier this month indicated that he was suspended by the network after the video report was retracted, and he has not been seen on NBC since then.

Meanwhile, NBC News or its parent company has not issued any statements on why Almaguer is gone, if he was suspended, and for how long. Almaguer also has not publicly commented on the matter.

NBC News has not returned a request for comment on Monday on if or when Almaguer will return. The Epoch Times also contacted Almaguer for comment.

After the report was pulled down from its “Today” website, NBC included an editor’s note saying, “This piece has been removed from publication because it did not meet NBC News reporting standards.”

What Was Said
In his retracted video report, Almaguer said that Paul Pelosi—the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.)—opened the door to their San Francisco home last month when police arrived. However, he did not try to escape or alert police to an emergency, and he instead walked to the police and back toward the alleged attacker, David DePape.

When his report was shared en masse on Nov. 4, coming days after the attack was reported, NBC removed the report from its website and social media.

Almaguer also has not posted on Twitter, where he is normally active, since Nov. 3. Last week, Almaguer posted photos of himself in Barcelona, Spain, on Instagram, suggesting he spent the Thanksgiving holiday there.

“After a ‘knock and announce,’ the front door was opened by Mr. Pelosi. The 82-year-old did not immediately declare an emergency or tried to leave his home but instead began walking several feet back into the foyer toward the assailant and away from police,” Almaguer said in the now-deleted Nov. 4 video report. Almaguer cited unnamed sources for the claims.

“It’s unclear if the 82-year-old was already injured or what his mental state was, say sources,” the NBC correspondent added.

His report appeared to contradict some official statements that were made by police and the local district attorney’s office, who said police officers arrived to find Pelosi struggling with DePape over a hammer. When police told the two to drop the hammer, DePape allegedly then struck Pelosi, 82, in the head with it, according to the DA’s office.

Earlier this month, a spokesperson for NBC told the Daily Beast that “we don’t comment on personnel matters.” Almaguer’s agent told Fox News on Monday they will not speak “on client matters.”

More Details
Pelosi’s office confirmed later that Paul Pelosi returned from the hospital about a week after the alleged attack. DePape has, in the meantime, pleaded not guilty to federal and state charges.

Paul Pelosi told a 911 dispatcher that he was sleeping when a man he had never seen before entered his bedroom looking for Nancy Pelosi, who was in Washington, D.C. Officers later found a broken glass door to the back porch. They recovered zip ties, a roll of tape, white rope, a second hammer, and a pair of rubber and cloth gloves, according to court documents.

DePape’s alleged motive “could not have been clearer,” San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins wrote in the filing: “He forced his way into the Pelosi home intending to take the person third in line to the presidency of the United States hostage and to seriously harm her. Thwarted by Speaker Pelosi’s absence, Defendant continued on his quest and would not be stopped, culminating in the near fatal attack on Mr. Pelosi.”

His ex-girlfriend, Oxane “Gypsy” Taub, told The Epoch Times that she doubts some allegations against DePape.

“The whole thing is shrouded in secrecy,” Taub told The Epoch Times on Nov. 22. In a blog post, Taub called on Pelosi to release some records to the public and claimed DePape “was a peace activist” and “never expressed any desires to solve political problems through violence.”

“If you have any control of this investigation (which I am not going to assume you do), please tell the authorities to release the security camera footage, the body camera footage from different angles, the entire dispatch tape, and witness interviews instead of spreading conspiracy theories about David,” Taub wrote.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Spending bill includes renaming of city’s federal building after Pelosi

BY RAMSEY TOUCHBERRY THE WASHINGTON TIMES

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s name will soon appear on a federal building in her hometown thanks to an item slipped into a massive must-pass spending bill that Congress is rushing to approve this week.

Tucked away on page 610 of the 1,455-page tome is a provision to rename the federal building located at 90 7th St in San Francisco, California, as “Speaker Nancy Pelosi Federal Building” to honor the California Democrat who is stepping down from her longtime leadership post.

The building is home to one of Mrs. Pelosi’s district offices and several satellite locations for federal agencies.

Republicans said Mrs. Pelosi’s “monument to me” is just one example of wasted taxpayer money and government resources in the year-end $1.7 trillion package being rushed through Congress.

“Swamp gonna Swamp,” tweeted Rep. Dan Bishop, North Carolina Republican, who has been posting individual spending items in the bill that he finds outrageous.

The funding package also boosts the FBI’s budget by $570 million to $11.3 billion for, in part, to investigate “extremist violence and domestic terrorism.” The budget boost drew howls from congressional Republicans who plan probes next Congress into reports of widespread misconduct, anti-conservative bias and politicized investigations at the FBI.

On the climate change front, the bill notably leaves out President Biden’s request for billions of dollars in international climate aid for poor countries to mitigate the effects of climate change.

The legislation was moving through Congress and expected to win final approval before the weekend, wrapping up Congress business for the year so lawmakers could make it home for the holidays.

Critics say lawmakers can’t know the contents of the massive bill that they are expected to vote for within days of receiving it.

The legislation also pays homage to Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Patrick Leahy, Vermont Democrat, and ranking member Richard Shelby, Alabama Republican. Both men are retiring at the end of this year after decades in Congress.

Mr. Leahy will get a school lunch program and a lake named after him, in addition to $30 million going to the Patrick Leahy Bullet-Proof Vest Partnership Grant Program.

The FBI training center in Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, will be renamed the “Richard Shelby Center for Innovation and Advanced Training.”

Among the thousands of individual funding items or earmarks worth nearly $10 billion filed by Democrats and Republicans to benefit their states or districts is one to create a $3.6 million “Michelle Obama Trail” in Georgia. The project, named after the former first lady, was filed by Rep. Hank Johnson, Georgia Democrat.

The spending bill creates a “Ukrainian Independence Park” in Washington that was spearheaded by GOP Reps. Victoria Spartz of Indiana, who is Ukrainian, and Brian Fitzpatrick of Georgia.

“The Democrats’ reckless omnibus bill spends YOUR money on a ‘Michelle Obama Trail,’ a ‘Ukraine Independence Park’ in DC, and a ‘Speaker Pelosi Federal Building’ in San Francisco,” Rep. Andy Biggs, Arizona Republican, tweeted. “Are you ok with all of this?”

I think it obvious why Paul did not or could not run out the door when he opened it
as some lawyer on newsmax was asking

the attacker was holding his wrist standing exactly next to him with a hammer

if he tried to run he risked getting skull bashed in
shortly after that happened anyway:

hard to look at this and not feel sympathy for the elderly man
not withstanding who he is married to and insider trading et al .....

Yes.

I would add that it would appear that a goodly portion of the snark from some on our side was simply vicious smears-- I'm thinking of the suggestions that the whacko was a gay hooker called to the house by secretly gay Paul Pelosi etc.

Sounds like he was 100% the victim in this case and deserved empathy, not snark. I apologize if I crossed that line. The correct reaction to most of these stories is to wait and see what the facts are.

I too may have chuckled at such witticisms.  Given the cover ups, suppression of info, the cancelation of the NBC reporter, Big Brother thought control efforts to portray the whacko as a Maga type when in point of fact he was very much a San Fran sexual weirdo libertine type and perhaps a sex worker, it was natural to entertain such thoughts.

That said, part of who we are is when we have reason to back up, we do so.

Gavin Newsom’s Tax Evasions
California’s Governor spins some tall tales about his record.
By The Editorial BoardFollow
June 14, 2023 6:48 pm ET

You can tell that the unflattering comparisons between Florida and California are rankling Golden State Gov. Gavin Newsom by the way he’s now trying to disavow his state’s punitive progressive income taxes. Nice try, Governor.

“I’ve never been a profligate Democrat,” Mr. Newsom told Fox News’s Sean Hannity this week. “I’m a business guy.” The born-again pro-business Democrat added that California’s top marginal 13.3% personal income tax rate applies only to the wealthy and predated his governorship. He also asserted that he has opposed new tax increases on high earners. Where to begin?

First, Mr. Newsom is defining wealthy down. California’s top 13.3% rate hits taxpayers making more than $1 million. That may seem rich, but it includes many small businesses that file under the individual tax code. More than 62,000 taxpayers with adjusted gross income exceeding $1 million in 2020 reported gains from partnerships or S-Corps.

California’s income tax rates for the middle-class are only slightly less punitive than for the so-called rich. Its 9.3% tax rate kicks in at $66,294 for single filers, which is higher than the top rate in all but a handful of states. Teachers and plumbers in California pay a higher rate than CEOs and hedge-fund managers in 44 states.

Mr. Newsom also appears to have forgotten that as lieutenant governor in 2012 he backed a ballot measure that raised the top rate to 13.3% from 10.3% and created four new brackets for income exceeding $250,000. These tax increases were supposed to expire at the end of 2018, but Democrats and their public union allies backed another ballot measure in 2016 to extend them through 2030. Mr. Newsom supported that tax extension too even though the state was swimming in revenue. A putative temporary tax increase has become de facto permanent.

San Francisco businesses that are still around from when Mr. Newsom was mayor two decades ago may also remember how he campaigned for ballot measures to raise the city sales tax and impose a gross receipts tax. “We’re fighting for the values of our city,” he proclaimed. San Francisco voters disagreed. Both measures failed.

As mayor and now Governor, he has presided over spending blowouts and awarded public unions higher pay. Instead of cutting taxes, he used last year’s $100 billion surplus to buy votes with stimulus checks and other transfer payments. Now the state faces a $32 billion budget deficit. Profligate is in the eye of the political spendthrift.

The Governor also trumpeted his opposition to a ballot initiative last November that would have increased the top rate by 1.75% on income above $2 million. Yes, but he didn’t suddenly find tax religion. He opposed the tax hike for the same reason the teachers’ unions did: The initiative barred politicians from controlling how the revenue would be spent.

Mr. Newsom’s revisionist tax history is worth correcting since he’s likely to be a candidate for the White House in 2024 if President Biden decides to bow out. If his tax fairy tale were true, tens of thousands of Californians wouldn’t be moving to other states.

Gavin Newsom's record is worse than Biden
« Reply #42 on: October 01, 2023, 09:19:18 AM »
Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) is floated as a possible replacement for Biden, too, but he would have a spotty record to defend as well: California has some of the highest taxes in the country. It has the highest poverty and homeless rates in the country. More people and businesses are leaving California than any other state in the country as a result. Newsom may be handsome and relatively young, but upon peeling the onion, his record stinks on the issues that matter.

Income inequality in California:
Income inequality has risen sharply in California over the past two decades, increasing faster in the state than in the nation as a whole.  The growing gap between rich and poor  in California results not only from rising incomes among the well-off but also from a precipitous drop in income among those in the mid-to-lowest levels of the income distribution.

However, the Reps (e.g. Hannity et al) have taken the easy way out in going after Biden on "age" (when they really should be talking about dementia and senility but I digress) instead of on the Racial Marxism, CRT, Green New Deal, and the other Woken Dead issues of his handlers.

Should Newsom bust a move, as increasingly appears likely, he will take advantage of this.

She marks the LGBTQ box,.Plus black and woman, just not a Calif resident or voter

If we could PLEASE make exception in anti abortion law for rape, other than that, what the hell does a lesbian have to do with unwanted pregnancy?  That's like asking a man his opinion, and there is NO provision in any abortion law for that.

Single issue she may  be, but Newsom thinks she's the best qualified 'Californian' to ratify treaties, derive original intent out of the constitution, etc.
