PolitiFact helped dispel Biden's misinformation, rating his claim "false." The U.S. did not "reject" the WHO test because the WHO never offered it to the CDC in the first place.

"The countries WHO helped are ones that lack the virology lab horsepower that exists across the United States," PolitiFact reported. The WHO's American arm said it focused its efforts on "countries with the weakest health systems."

"No discussions occurred between WHO and CDC about WHO providing COVID-19 tests to the United States," WHO spokeswoman Margaret Harris told PolitiFact. "This is consistent with experience since the United States does not ordinarily rely on WHO for reagents or diagnostic tests because of sufficient domestic capacity."

Like HRC, he does best when he says and does nothing.  Not funny if he has the virus, vulnerable age and condition, was out shaking a lot of hands and breathing down a lot of necks.

His twitter feed is clearly written by campaign staff.  General gripes about Trump, and Dem proposals for spreading money.
https://twitter.com/joebiden

May have needed a little time for plastic surgery follow up care.  Hard to get it just right, also like HRC.

Especially odd since he promised a constant presence during this time.

Famous people reading the forum:

He can explain why Democrats blocked stimulus and tanked the markets.

What Biden won't say tonight:
I stand with President Trump on this global emergency.
We can do the armchair quarterbacking later.
Today we are united.  Everyone must pull together.

  - Republicans need to prop him up until November so he doesn't tip over too soon.

His advisers had 6 days to prepare also, and failed.  His speech should have been no more than three sentences:

'There is not one millimeter of distance between the President and me on this.  The virus hits Republicans, Democrats and independents exactly the same.  We will have plenty of other issues to debate in September, October, November after we all come together and rise to this challenge.'

But no.  They believe they need to maintain Trump hatred at a fever pitch for seven months while Pres. Trump leads the nation through this historic crisis.

Did anyone else see Joe on Jake Tapper just now.

He again sounded like he doesn't know what he is talking about

even Tapper looked at him with an expression of befuddlement .

I love the part where he says "thank God I have no symptoms" and my doctors told me I have no conditions that would complicate my outcome

He forgot about dementia

Folks ,that certainly is a risk factor.

The Atlantic has been reading the forum.  Or great minds think alike??

Yes.  Nothing to take for granted!  If this is close, Dems will steal it.  That said, that is the score before the game is played.  Carter led Reagan.  Dukakis was up double digits on Bush.  John Kerry was leading until the polls closed in '04.  McCain had a brief lead after he picked Palin. HRC led all the way through. Dewey led Truman?

The win we need is House, Senate and Presidency, not just Trump over Biden.  That means having a fight over ideology and winning it decisively.  Those swing districts (and new swing districts) will be the key to it.

Yes

don't want mario's kid to get slipped in front instead.

biden might do better to have mario's kid as a VP but I don't think he has a vagina so that idea is out.

Than brother Chris could be WH press secretary or head of DOJ as he is a lawyer.

That Sunday between Benghazi and Obama reelection, she was chosen or volunteered to take one for the team and went on every show, at least six of them, and lied, lied, lied.  Good for her, as Elizabeth Warren might say, but notice that she has never held elective office or put herself up for confirmation by the Senate as far as I know.  That Sunday I channel changed and very bizarrely watched the lies over and over and over.  It was a BFD, in Biden-speak.

If resume meant the jobs you've held, she is quite qualified.  If vetting means finding out what they did when they were in those jobs... her goose is cooked.  MHO.

Amy or even Kamala is lower risk for Biden.  Do no harm.  Butti should count as picking the other gender.

Right.  What he needs to do is pick one white woman and one black man, but he can only pick one.  A woman Governor of Michigan is almost perfect on paper.  In reality, this is more like a Sarah Palin pick, for better or worse.  Does a Michigan connection move you one inch in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Ohio or Iowa?  No.  And it may not tip the balance in Michigan either.

On the day that W.H.O. saw a global emergency, Gov. Whit-brain still saw potholes and diversity as the issues facing Michigan.

Reasonable, unexciting Democrat, she does not strike me as the next leader of the free world.  Everyone in the room is asking themselves, how long does this go on?

Bernie's crowd and the rest of them are charging ahead with nationwide 'legalization', among the hottest subjects for Nov if Trump doesn't do it first.

Meanwhile, old, slow Joe led the movement of taking the parents' house if the adult kid grew a pot plant in back.

Live and let live goes up against militarized, jack booted thugs with government badges and court papers confiscating homes and putting out families.

Joe Biden was not just wrong about every foreign policy decision of the last 40 years.  His domestic policies were all wrong too.

It isn't the rich and powerful who don't have the resources to fight an all powerful government.  It is the regular Joes out there who get burned.

It proves he was right to order the European travel ban and he did it before any of them called for it.

If he had done it earlier, before public awareness of real public health danger existed, people would have revolted.  China, the original source, is different.  If all countries had put the travel ban on China a month and a half earlier - when we should have known - maybe this wouldn't be a pandemic.

I wonder about the announcements too.

So we are saying the virus went from where it originated , the lab in Wuhan to Europe where it mutated
before it came to US?

Either way it all came from China if not directly
If the virus really mutated that much already they can tell where if was just before ?

ANd yes proves Trump was right about banning European travel. - but zero chance the MSM will give him any credit.
Instead , like all data analyzers twist the finding s (if true I have my doubts). around to try to score their political points.

Biden on the Pandemic
« Reply #189 on: April 10, 2020, 10:45:07 AM »
"So we are saying the virus went from where it originated , the lab in Wuhan to Europe where it mutated
before it came to US?
"

It kept coming from China to Europe after China to US flights were stopped and kept coming from Europe to US another 6 weeks while Europe was unprotected.

"Either way it all came from China if not directly."    - yes

My view from what we know now:  Patient 0 was Nov 17 and started spreading it exponentially as did his circle and all of theirs.  Within 3-4 weeks the best minds in China knew what was going on or knew they needed help and should have reported to UN, WHO, US, Europe, neighbors and their own free press if they had one.  The regime stopped them.  Instead, WHO (partly) figured out what was going on by Jan 30 and finally declared a public health emergency.  https://www.who.int/news-room/detail/30-01-2020-statement-on-the-second-meeting-of-the-international-health-regulations-(2005)-emergency-committee-regarding-the-outbreak-of-novel-coronavirus-(2019-ncov) Trump shut down travel from China within a day.

Europe was slower to shut down flights from China, Italy did it Feb 22, after their own situation was in disaster.
https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/world/italy-pm-announces-halt-to-entry-and-exit-from-covid-19-hotspots-12461774

The numbers infected and likelihood of each traveler having it was getting exponentially worse during all of that time.

So the virus came to the US in small numbers in Dec, larger numbers in Jan, similarly with those coming from China to Europe.  Then it continued coming to Europe in worse numbers and travel from Europe to the US continued until March 12-14.

The only blame to Europe is that in hindsight they should have shut down travel from China when Trump did instead of criticizing it, and all that should have happened in mid-December, had China not lied.

"zero chance the MSM will give him any credit"

Right, but anyone paying attention knows he did more than anyone else on the planet to  stop its spread and protect us.  No other President, not Bush, not Obama, not HRC, Biden, Bernie, Butti, or Beto would have acted as boldly as Trump imposing the original travel ban.

There will be big issues in the rear view mirror but the real question for November,is, who will grow us out of this faster?  It may be a close election for other reasons but all men, women, gay, trans, white, black, Hispanic, Muslim, atheist, Christian, Jew know Trump did everything he could to fight this and will grow us out of this faster.

https://www.vox.com/2020/3/27/21195935/joe-biden-sexual-assault-allegation

Update to the story, criminal complaint filed.

Partly credible, partly not.  One point is that she was a supporter of his.  More recently she is a supporter of Bernie.  Not a supporter of Trump.  Who do her lawyers support?  If he did this once, didn't he do it a dozen or a hundred times?  No other similar allegations.  Maybe some will come forward but I don't want to lose Joe as the nominee.

Strange that the allegation (what I heard) skips telling steps mostly to do with clothing, that would have had to happen before the finger could penetrate.

Definitely too old of a story to sort out now. This story mostly raises the hypocrisy issue with the Left.  Way more credible than Balsey Ford that they tried to stop Washington with.

Criminal complaint is now filed long after the statute of limitations expired.  If it's true, it's fine for her to speak publicly, but I don't know why they make that complaint now. Maybe to show she's not afraid of a false complaint charge.

Biden's top ten women VP choices, CNN
« Reply #196 on: April 14, 2020, 08:10:51 AM »
Weak field:

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham
10. Michelle Lujan Grisham: The New Mexico governor isn't well-known nationally -- despite serving three terms in the House before being elected to her current job in 2018. She's on the list because she's one of the highest-ranking Latina elected officials in the country -- and she represents an area of the country (the Southwest) that is growing like crazy. (Previous ranking: 10)

Stacey Abrams
9. Stacey Abrams: If political Twitter picked the VP nominee, Abrams, who nearly won the Georgia governorship in 2018, would be the overwhelming No. 1 choice. Her 2018 race made her a star and her work on voting rights issues since then has kept her in the national spotlight. The biggest problem for Abrams? Experience. The highest office she has ever held is the state House. And Biden has repeatedly said that experience matters a huge amount to him; "You've got to be able to turn and say to your vice president, 'This is your responsibility.' Because the job is too big anymore for any one man or woman," said the former VP last August. (Previous ranking: 7)

Florida Rep. Val Demings
8. Val Demings: The Florida House member barely missed my original Top 10 but the more I thought about her, the more I thought Demings deserved a spot on the list. Here's why: Prior to coming to Congress, Demings was the first female police chief in Orlando, Florida. In her relatively brief time in the House -- she was first elected to the 10th District in 2016 -- she has rapidly become a rising star. Demings was one of seven House Democrats chosen by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) to serve as managers during the Senate impeachment trial of Trump. (Previous ranking: Unranked)

Wisconsin Sen. Tammy Baldwin
7. Tammy Baldwin: If you believe that Wisconsin is the Midwestern state that Trump must win in order to claim a second term, well then picking a popular senator from the state makes a lot of sense for Biden. (Baldwin won reelection with 55% in 2018.) Plus, Baldwin would be a historic pick: The first gay vice presidential nominee for either major party. (Previous ranking: 8)

Illinois Sen. Tammy Duckworth
6. Tammy Duckworth: Duckworth is my dark horse candidate to make Biden's eventual final three. Why? She's from the Midwest (Illinois). She would be an historic pick as the first Asian American to appear on a national ticket for a major party. And her personal story -- the Blackhawk helicopter she was piloting during the Iraq war was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade and Duckworth lost both legs and the full use of her right arm in the incident -- is incredible. (Previous ranking: 6)

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren
5. Elizabeth Warren: The Massachusetts senator drops two spots this week because she doesn't fit two of Biden's stated criteria for his second-in-command. One, at 70, Warren is younger than Biden but not exactly of a different generation. Second, Biden said in New Hampshire last month that he wanted a VP with "some correlation between their views and mine," specifically mentioning support for "Medicare for All" as a non-starter. While Warren waffled somewhat in her support for Medicare for All, she was definitely a vocal supporter of a government-run program for much of her presidential bid. (Previous ranking: 3)

Nevada Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto
4. Catherine Cortez Masto: The Nevada senator isn't getting nearly as much buzz as some of the three people ranked above her on this list, but that may wind up being a good thing since early buzz isn't always an indicator of future success. (Remember vice presidential nominee Julián Castro in 2016?) And Cortez Masto has a very powerful advocate in former Senate Majority Leader (and Biden longtime colleague) Harry Reid. According to Mediaite, Reid recently told Biden that Cortez Masto is his pick for VP and Biden responded that she was in his top three. (Previous ranking: 5)

Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar
3. Amy Klobuchar: Klobuchar has been in the news a lot of late -- for reasons she'd rather not be: Her husband was diagnosed with coronavirus. Thankfully he returned home from the hospital late last month and the Minnesota senator has spoken about her husband's battle the virus. Depending on how dominant coronavirus is an issue in November, that sort of personal experience might matter to voters (and hence to Biden). Klobuchar also still has her Midwestern roots, record of winning easily in a swing-ish state and centrist politics working in her favor. (Previous ranking: 2)

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer

2. Gretchen Whitmer: It was lost on absolutely no one that the Michigan governor was one of the first guests on Biden's new podcast -- and that on it he praised her as an "outstanding governor" and "one of the most talented people in the country in my view." Whitmer's pragmatic politics are a nice fit with Biden's and her age -- she's 48 -- would make a clear generational bridge for Biden. Plus, Whitmer's profile has soared of late as she battles coronavirus in her state, and attacks from Trump on the job she is doing. (Previous ranking: 4)

California Sen. Kamala Harris
1. Kamala Harris: At a virtual fundraiser Wednesday, Biden praised the California senator for running a "helluva race" for president and adding: "I'm so lucky to have you be a part of this partnership going forward. Working together, we can make a great deal of progress. ... I'm coming for you, kid." Eyebrows raised! Harris checks all the boxes for Biden -- an African American and Indian American woman from a huge Democratic (and donor) state who proved herself to be an able debater during her own run for president. At the moment it looks like Baraq's support will be in name only.

Obama:
"I believe Joe has all the qualities we need in a president right now."

   - Right now?  He left the door wide open to come back later, after a larger than usual gaffe, and say that was last April and things have changed  We need a substitution.
